Fresh Trouble For Ezra Chiloba

Ezra Chiloba, the former Director General of the Communication Authority of Kenya, faces a new setback as an audit report uncovers potential embezzlement of public funds within the authority.

The latest findings, reported in Wednesday’s Standard publication, reveal that Chiloba is in hot water due to payments made to certain members without proper conflict of interest declarations.

Furthermore, the audit discloses that a sum of Ksh 3.1 million was disbursed to 24 staff members during a significant event, even though they had already received full allowances for 24 days.

This revelation not only raises concerns about financial mismanagement but also underscores issues related to transparency and ethical conduct within the organization.

Chiloba’s reputation and the authority’s integrity have been further marred by these audit findings, necessitating a thorough investigation into the alleged financial improprieties.

Further, the CA’s travel schedules are prepared on a monthly basis instead of having an annual calendar.

However in response, the suspended Edwin Chiloba refuted reports of embezzlement of funds saying the scheme followed all the guidelines and rules as instituted by the government.

Chiloba as well disputed the outcomes of the audit saying interference might have been caused by members who were out of the audit committee.

” I wish to confirm that the allegations levelled against me, conflicts of interest, abuse of office, intend to defraud the authority, lack of professionalism and integrity and negligence of duty and failure to show due care are unfounded, incorrect and unjustified ” he said.

This comes in line with alleged corruption and misuse of public funds in the communication authority of Kenya.
