Top Govt Official Resigns

Top government official has resigned. The CEO of the Athi Water Agency, Michael Thuita, has stepped down from his government position shortly after being dismissed by the Head of Public Service, Felix Kosgei. Thuita’s resignation coincides with President William Ruto’s visit to the United States.

Notably, Thuita’s decision to resign has occurred while the Water and Irrigation CS, Alice Wahome, has expressed her opposition to this move.

It appears that intense pressure from influential government figures within Statehouse played a significant role in Thuita’s resignation.

Michael Thuita’s departure is reportedly linked to allegations of corruption, with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) seeking to investigate the sources of his wealth.

The Athi Water Agency is a government institution that receives substantial funds from the exchequer to improve access to water across the country.

Kenyans are eagerly awaiting developments in the government, given the ongoing conflicts between various government ministries and even within the same ministries.

These disputes are believed to stem from conflicting interests and the control of resources within different government institutions.
