Split in Azimio Takes Another Turn as a Leader Resigns

As bipartisan talks between Kenya Kwanza Alliance and Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition which are being held at Bomas of Kenya currently on course, many are uncertain of any fruitful outcome of the same.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has even in several instances observed the talks as a mere waste of time and called upon the conveners to find more important undertakings to do.

With the government wing headed by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa, the Azimio wing is led by former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka

The two camps have reportedly differed on myriads of issues as so far nothing substantive has been agreed upon. Both camps are vehemently clinging on to their respective irreducible minimums hence the impediment towards a common ground.

Joining the list of those viewing the talks as mere hot air, former Ndaragwa Member of Parliament and embattled Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni recently advised his wing of the political divide to withdraw forthwith from the talks as no thing tangible is likely to come out of it.

He termed the government side incisere and not after any fruitful outcome of the bipartisan engagements.

But while rubbishing above assertions by Kioni, former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga’s close ally and Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition spokesperson, Makau Mutua has now come out gun-blazzing and told Kioni to resign from Azimio talks team if he doesn’t believe in the same.

He read malice in the recent remarks by Kioni viewing them as hypocritical and insincere.
