Kioni and Hassan Omar Exchange Blows in a Nasty Disagreement

During the recent bipartisan discussions held on Thursday, there was a heated confrontation between Jeremiah Kioni, the Secretary General of Jubilee, and Hassan Omar, the Vice Chair of UDA, nearly resulting in a physical altercation.

the two leaders were involved in bitter verbal exchanges during the meeting which lasted for almost two hours.

Former Mombasa senator and now EALA MP and UDA Vice Chair, Hassan Omar, is said to have scolded Mr Kioni for his recent remarks during a press conference held by the Azimio coalition. During the press conference, Kioni had said that the bipartisan talks appear designed to fail.

Hassan Omar’s berating of Kioni triggered a bitter exchange between the duo that lasted for a few minutes before they were stopped by the co-chairs, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Kioni acknowledged the incident, characterizing Hassan Omar as displaying arrogance and condescension. Following the altercation, the former Ndaragwa MP abruptly left the meeting and declined to participate in the joint press briefing alongside his colleagues.

Kioni has since called for termination of the ongoing bipartisan talks, terming them “a waste of time”.

“I don’t expect anything to come out from those talks. It is just a waste of time,” the former Ndaragwa MP said on phone.
