Changes Made on Third Term School Calendar

Students return to school after two-week break

Students all over Kenya have returned to school after a two-week break. The third term of the academic year began on August 28 and will run until October 27, 2023.

This final term is the shortest of the year, but it is also the most important as it will see students take their national examinations. There will be no mid-term break during this term.

Students taking the Kenya Primary School Examination (KCPE) will sit their exams from October 30 to November 2. This will be the final KCPE exams under the 8-4-4 system, as it is being replaced by the 2-6-3-3-3 Competency-Based Curriculum.

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will be held from November 3 to November 24. Approximately 2.3 million students are expected to take the KCPE and KCSE exams this year.

The grading of the exams will begin on November 27 and will take three weeks to complete.

The third term for diploma-level students at Teachers’ Training Colleges ended on August 11, 2023.
