Atwoli Changes Tune Reveals Who He Will Support in 2027

In a display of unwavering support, Francis Atwoli, the Secretary General of the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU), has voiced optimism about President William Ruto’s leadership.

Atwoli has boldly asserted that removing President Ruto from office during the 2027 elections would be a formidable task, owing to the President’s effective governance and strategic moves.

Speaking on behalf of the Luhya community, Atwoli underscored their resolute backing for the Kenya Kwanza administration, affirming their commitment to realizing the administration’s comprehensive manifesto. The influence of Atwoli’s endorsement resonates in a video aired on Lightcast TV, where he praised President Ruto’s astute approach to governance.

“President William Ruto has given the Central Bank to the Luhya people. This time around, he has given you a position at KRA to collect revenue from all over the country and take it to the central bank.” Atwoli.

Central to Atwoli’s endorsement is the notion that President Ruto has adeptly embraced the Luhya community, facilitating their representation in crucial government roles. Atwoli highlighted that President Ruto’s administration has provided the Luhya people with opportunities to hold strategic positions, ones that carry significant weight and responsibility within the government structure.

Atwoli, known for his vocal support of President Ruto, foresees a harmonious future for the Western community under the President’s leadership. In his view, the impending 2027 elections will witness the Luhya community’s unwavering support for President Ruto, and any concerns about the absence of developmental progress will be allayed. This assertion reflects the confidence that Atwoli places in President Ruto’s vision and execution of policies.

“As Luhya’s, we are behind you. I know we had shoved you aside, but you outmanoeuvred us. How will we defeat you in 2027? Demonstrations are done by people who do not have an office. People who have offices here do not participate in demos,” Atwoli said.
