Details of Ruto-Raila Agreement

Political expert Macharia Munene now argues that President Ruto and the leader of opposition Raila Odinga had already reached a consensus as far as their talks are concerned and that everything that is taking place is simply a script to buy time.

The professor of history asserted that the current series of events which might seem like coincidences to Kenyans are plans which have been well laid out by the two political leaders.

However, Professor Macharia further argued that the only thing which is holding President Ruto and his former opponent from making the agreement public is the anticipated reaction which might arise from other political allies.

On the president’s side, Macharia mentions Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as the possible hurdle over the deal while Odinga’s end bears former Azimio running mate Martha Karua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Justifying his argument, the scholar highlighted the incident where the Azimio leader allegedly bumped on US Senator Chris Coons at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport while the two were separately heading to United Kingdom and the United States respectively. Apparently, this was just moments after Senator Coons had met President Ruto at State House.

Well, expert Macharia Munene does not perceive this a coincidence, according to him, Senator Coons was responsible for brokering the 2018 handshake deal between former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga and his presence at this time bears a vivid significance.
