Warning IEBC Commissioners Received Minutes Before Results

Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commissioner professor Abdi Guliye, has opened up on the challenges they faced before finally announcing the 2022 winner of the Presidential Elections.

While Speaking in an exclusive Interviews with a local media house, the former Commisioner who retired alongside former Chairperson Wafula Chebukati, claimed that some senior Government official in the former regime, went to the Bomas of Kenya and demanded to meet them.

He said that the officials met the seven of them including Wafula Chebukati. During the meeting, the said officials allegedly issued a turf warning to them.

According to Guliye, they demanded that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party presidential candidate former prime minister Raila Odinga be announced the winner.

Guliye claimed that the Individuals also noted that if Raila could not be announced the winner then they were to force a run off.

According to him, the individuals warned that the country would be unstable as fight would break if Raila was not announced the winner.

After they issued the warning, Guliye revealed that they held another meeting as the Commissioners to deliberate on the message by the individuals.

During the Meeting, he said that four of them; former vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, Irine Masit, Justus Ng’angaya, and Francis Wanderi, all agreed to do as the said individuals had demanded.

However for the three of them, they refused and vowed to strictly follow the Constitution and announce the real results. This led to the Announcement of President William Ruto as the winner of the polls.
