Azimio Releases Full List of All 9 Leaders Arrested Today

In a statement on Wednesday, Narc Kenya party leader  Martha Karua on behalf of Azimio termed the actions as illegal and aimed at paralysing the protests.

“We condemn in the strongest terms possible the arrests and or atAzimio leaders and close associates of leaders without any colour of right or lightest justification,” she said.

She stated that Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino was arrested by police on Tuesday night and is currently being held incommunicado, with his whereabouts remaining unknown.

“Today Hon Ken Chong, MP Kilif South and Hon. Teddy Mwambire, Speaker Kilif County have been arrested and detained in an unknown place,” Karua added.

Nairobi MCAs Wilfred Odallo (Mabatini), Redson Onyango (Ngei ), Erick Otieno and Anthony Otsulawho are budget officers at the Nairobi County Assembly and have also been arrested.

Also, Raila Odinga’s bodyguard Maurice Ogeta was said to be abducted by police on his way to work.

Dennis Onyango ( Raila’s Spokesman)  was arrested from his house where a search without warrant was conducted.

Karua called out the government for the arrests arguing it is a desperate attempt to sabotage the maandamano exercise.

As a result, the Raila-led coalition has demanded the immediate release of those detained noting that their detention is not only malicious but also unlawful.

Karua argued that if the arrests were legal, the police would have been taken before the nearest courts and charged immediately.

Azimio also listed in Mathare, Kibra, Embakasi.Kamukunii,Mombasa, Kilif, Kisii and  Kisumu as areas where excessive force  by police is being.

Their continued unlawful detention which the Ruto regime has sanctioned, together with the excessive force being used notably in Mathare, Kibra, Embakasi.Kamukunii,Mombasa, Kilifi, Kisii, Kisumu and indeed all over the country to disperse lawful and peaceful demonstrations is in flagrant violation of our constitution and laws.

In addition to that, the Opposition had also urged the government to respect the Kenyan constitution and laws.

They reminded the police that each officer will account individually for  unlawful acts

“. Our Lawyers have instructions to proceed with the necessary legal action,” Karua added.
