GOVT CHANGES MID TERM BREAK DATES

The midterm dates were changed by the Ministry of Education on Thursday, June 22, moving them from Tuesday, June 27, to Saturday, July 1, 2023.

Following a petition from Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) members, the amendment was made. 

Originally, the second term’s midterm break was scheduled to take place from Thursday, June 29, to Sunday, July 2.

This comes after Head teachers expressed worry about the cost of school uniforms and delays in the distribution of capitation monies during the meeting on Friday, last week.

The distribution of curriculum materials, the purchase of clothing, and the financial auditing of schools were the subject of other complaints.  

Machogu gave the heads of the schools his word that a team will be assembled by the Ministry to examine the problems brought up and offer prompt answers. 

Belio Kipsang, the PS for Education, advocated for the principals’ organization to self-regulate.
