MAJOR PROTEST IN MOMBASA ROAD, NAIROBI.

Mombasa Road has been one of the busiest Highways in the country ensuring that the Eastern and Coastal part of the country are connected as per the design.

Protests have however been affecting the flow of goods and services along the busy road over the past few months given that the roads are closed during this time.

This afternoon, according to the available reliable reports that we have with us from the busy Mombasa Road, there have been protests in the area that have seen the road totally closed.

Burning tyres as well as huge blocks placed strategically on the road have rendered it impassable for the better part of the afternoon as per the reports that we have with us.

The protests have been brought about by the residents of the area in Machakos County who have totally blocked the road and made it impossible for the Mito ists to go around the road.

However, police have been called to the scene to ensure that they clear the road and normalcy is resumed on the busy road for the motorists and passengers.

Police have been able to ensure that the protestors are dispersed and there is now movement of goods and services across the road.

The fire as well as the stones on the road have been cleared but the reports intimate that the Kyumbi-Machakos Road is still impassable because of the protests.
