The disruption is to allow the expansion of the road into a dual carriageway.

“Please be advised that as from Monday, 9th August 2021, there will be minimal traffic disruptions along Enterprise Road as from Kartasi Roundabout till General Motors (Mombasa Road). This is to allow expansion of the road into a dual carriageway,” KURA stated.

The expansion of Mombasa road into a dual carriageway comes as the Nairobi Expressway continues to take shape.

The construction of the Nairobi Expressway being undertaken by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), began in July 2020 and one year later, there is notable progress.

Already, a towering piece of infrastructure is floating in Nairobi’s Uhuru Highway, City Cabanas, and Westlands along Waiyaki Way.

The Expressway is set to have 10 interchanges that include the SGR and JKIA interchange, Eastern bypass, Capital Center, Haile Selassie, Thika road interchange, Westland’s interchange, and James Gichuru.

The infrastructure which is one of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legacy projects once completed is expected to reduce the headache of traffic, especially along Mombasa road.

The approximate time from Mlolongo where the project begins to Westlands is projected to be 20 minutes.
