NANDI RESIDENTS DEMONSTRATES AGAINST RUTO

Kenyans went to the 9th August 2022 general elections to vote in leaders who will be able to lead for the next five years, in the presidential seat which had four contestants led former prime minister Raila Odinga, former deputy president William Samoei Ruto, Roots party leader George Wajackoyah and Agano party leader Wahiga Mwaura.

William Samoei Ruto of Kenya Kwanza emerged the top among the four aspirants to become the fifth presisent of Kenya with former Mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua being the deputy president.

During the campaigns, William Ruto campaigned against the high cost of living and promised to lower the cost of living in his first one hundred days. Ruto and his deputy were soon in on 13th September 2022 at Kasarani stadium and this counts to over 240 days that the duo have been at the healm of leadership.

Currently prices of key commodities which are needed by most Kenyans including fuel, sugar and others have increased, this comes at the wake of more taxes, from 8% to 16% for those who are employed, there is a proposed house fund deduction of 3% for each worker to fund Ruto’s fordable housing project.

Residents of Nandi county have been fed up with the fact that the cost of living keeps going up day by day even the the head of the country is an hustler, they have said that the current economy is unbearable for them and others are going to bed hungry, they have seen that the former economy was better than this one.

One of them has said that they won’t keep quiet because one of them from the Rift Valley region is the president. William Ruto comes from Uasin Gishu county in the Rift Valley region.
