LIST OF 10 GOVERNORS SENT TO NEGOTIATE WITH RUTO

The Council of Governors has now joined the list of teams busy at work to try and broker a truce between President William Ruto and Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga.

This comes amid intensifying enmity between the government and opposition sides, as each accuses the other of causing the stalemate that is now threatening to further disrupt lives in Kenya.

The CoG has now come up with a team of ten governors, whose main mission will be to hold talks with both sides with the goal of striking some sort of agreement and bring back calm and order.

CoG Chair Anne Waiguru has told the Daily Nation that they seek to try and have the ongoing opposition demos brought to and end, so that Kenyans can continue enjoying political stability and cohesion.

“The purpose of the committee will be to engage the leaders from the two political divides to address the ongoing demonstrations and amicable solutions to ensure stability in the country.

To ensure that there is continued peace and cohesion in the country, we call upon all political leaders to be amenable to the discussion that will yield stability and growth of this great nation,” the Kirinyaga governor is quoted.

Members of the committee include governors Simba Arati (Kisii), Joseph Ole Lenku (Kajiado), Wavinya Ndeti (Machakos), Ochillo Ayacko (Migori) and Waiguru.

Others are CoG Vice Chair Ahmed Abdullahi and governors Stephen Sang (Nandi), Kenneth Lusaka (Bungoma), Fatuma Achani (Kwale) and Mutahi Kahiga of Nyeri County.

This comes at a time when efforts by religious leaders seem to have failed, with the team that had been put in place by both Kenya Kwanza and Azimio to negotiate on their behalf also appearing to be failing.
