BUSINESS, ROADS CLOSED AS AZIMIO RALLIES HITS HARD

Opposition Leader Raila Odinga’s call for mass action is taking shape, with reports from the Nyanza region now revealing that transport has this Monday morning, paralyzed and businesses closed in Migori town after Azimio supporters hit the streets to protest over the high cost of living.

Several protesters took to the streets while armed with what looked like rungus and started moving around while singing anti-government slogans

In one of the videos making the rounds on social media, all shops remained closed in the town as the protestors marched in the town.

A police car was also seen in the middle of the protestors but there was nothing the officers could have done to stop the masses.

One of the protestors was heard saying hunger is killing them because he was not able to buy maize flour, one of the stable food in the country.

Raila Odinga declared mass action on Thursday last week to compel President William Ruto to lower the cost of living among other many demands.

He proceeded and held an anti-government rally on Friday in Migori County, he then proceed to Narok County where he held a similar rally. On Sunday, 12 March, Raila was in the coast region, where he camped in Likoni and preached the anti-Ruto gospel.

According to sources, Raila is expected to be in Siaya County today ahead of his highly hyped demonstrations in Nairobi next Monday.

Raila wants Ruto to bring back all the subsidies that he cancelled after taking over from President Uhuru Kenyatta, including the fuel, educational and unga subsidies

However, Ruto’s government has maintained that what Raila is demanding, especially the subsidies, is too expensive for the government to manage and not sustainable at all.
