NEW PRICE OF REFILLING GAS CYLINDER AFTER GOVT REGULATIONS

The country’s deteriorating cost of living scenario has been made worse by rising crude oil costs and a weakening shilling that recently hit a low of Ksh110 against the US dollar.

This resulted in higher landed prices for petroleum products throughout the nation, which in turn raised living expenses.

Cooking gas was one of the most affected commodities, and Kenyans were unhappy when the price increased by more than 900 shillings.

This came into effect after the Parliament reinstated the 16% VAT on cooking gas, leaving a 13 kilogram and 6 kg cooking gas remaining at 3200 and 1600 kenyan shillings, respectively, when combined with crude oil.

Kenyans have reason to smile thanks to the recent news from Nation newspaper that the cost of replenishing the cooking has been decreased.

After the passage of the Finance Act, which reduced the value added tax on LPG from 16% to 8%, this price reduction became effective. In many stations, a 6kg and 13kg cooking gas refill now costs 1400 and 3000 ksh, respectively.
