BYE! AZIMIO LEADERS KICKS OUT RAILA’S BROTHER, OBURU

Azimio One Kenya Alliance on Thursday, November 3, dropped Siaya senator, Oburu Oginga, and embattled Sirisia Member of Parliament, John Waluke, from the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) nomination list.

On Wednesday, November 2, the coalition submitted the names of Raila Odinga’s brother, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau (Wiper) and Likoni lawmaker Mishi Mboko (ODM).

However, it made changes to the list, effectively replacing Oginga with Isiolo Senator and Senate Minority Whip, Fatuma Dullo.

“I am pleased to confirm that the minority party nominees from the National Assembly to the PSC are Mishi Mboko and Patrick Makau,” read the letter in part.

Reports indicated that the new development was necessitated by the uproar that ensued after a section of Azimio lawmakers rejected Oginga’s nomination.

The communication regarding these changes was reportedly sent to the National Assembly Speaker and the chairperson of the PSC Moses Wetang’ula for ratification.

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party also laid claim on one slot at the commission through a parallel letter written to the Speaker too.

Jubilee reiterated Waluke’s nomination, indicating that the jailed MP was already issued with a certificate.

PSC, in charge of the welfare of MPs and parliamentary staff, is chaired by the National Assembly Speaker, with the Clerk of the Senate 

serving as the secretary.

Azimio was expected to meet to iron out the issues which surfaced after the party lost the presidential election to Kenya Kwanza.

The coalition has, nonetheless, remained steadfast in criticising the government.

Party leader, Raila Odinga, and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, held several press conferences where they cautioned Kenya Kwanza against coercing its allies to shift allegiance.
