LIST OF POLITICIANS WHO WERE ARRESTED & FORCED TO JOIN AZIMIO

Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has said state agencies were used by the Jubilee administration to force him to support Azimio coalition against his wish.

Savula said he joined President-elect Dr William Ruto’s bandwagon immediately after being re-elected as Lugari MP in 2017 but shortly after, he was arrested together with his two wives as a way of intimidating him.

“I was arrested at 2am in a hotel. The same night my two wives were arrested from their houses, one at 3am and another at 5am, on allegations  that we had stolen Sh 1.5 billion from government. Later it turned out that the government had no evidence to support the case,” Savula said.

“The same government alleged that I had not remitted tax amounting to Sh0.5 billion to Kenya Revenue Authority, and they froze all my accounts to pin me down. I went through hell,” he added.

He said senior officers from the DCI told him that he would be pardoned if he stopped supporting Ruto and instead backed Azimio One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Savula said he was ready to work closely with the President-elect to foster development in Kakamega county and the country at large.

The Kakamega deputy governor addressed mourners in Lugari constituency on Saturday. He called on the President-elect to embrace everyone if he is to steer the country in the right direction.

“You don’t have to be vengeful to those who wronged you, seek prayers and have a forgiving heart,” Savula said.

He said the era when state security organs were being used to intimidate leaders and box them into submission was long gone.

Savula said he is ready to work with the Ruto administration in fostering the development agenda of Kakamega county and the nation at large.

He spoke during the funeral service for Mary Avisa Ndanyi in Lumakanda village, Lugari, where he urged the President-elect to priorities the revival of Mumias Sugar Company.

Savula said Ruto has been chosen by God to carry the aspirations of the entire nation, and he should treat every region equally irrespective of how they voted since every Kenyan deserves services.

He added that Ruto should be respected as the President and symbol of national unity.

Savula called on the electorates to be vigilant and follow closely the performance of their leaders so that when elections are called, they may be able to chose a leader based on his or her development record.

The deputy governor thanked the electorate for trusting him and Governor Fernandes Barasa with their votes, saying they will work hand in hand with other elected leaders in fostering development in Kakamega.
