THUG BEATEN LIKE A BURUKENGE

A man is nursing injuries in police custody as he awaits arraignment on Monday morning following a foiled robbery attempt in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa Estate.

Eric Musungu, a resident of Kawangware is said to have invaded the neighbouring upmarket neighbourhood with an accomplice on Saturday night.

The two who were aboard a motorbike reportedly did not get far with their pursuit as police officers immediately got a tip-off on the planned attack and cornered the duo along Laikipia road.

According to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the thugs however defied the order and escaped in different directions, leaving the bike behind.

“It wasn’t long before one of the thugs was swept off his feet by the long legged Corporal Miheso, catapulting him to the air for a moment before he landed on the ground with a thud,” DCI said.

“But before Miheso handcuffed the thug and led him to the police station, an angry mob of nduthi men that was chasing closely behind baying for his blood, descended on him with an avalanche of blows and kicks, disfiguring his dental arrangement and gifting him a swollen eye.”

Police recovered a homemade pistol and one round of 9mm calibre in the incident. Meanwhile, the second suspect escaped and is still at large as his search gets underway.
