VIDEO-ARMED ROBBERS RAID TOP-RANKED BANK IN BROAD DAYLIGHT.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are holding two police officers attached to the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit, following a robbery at a bank along Mombasa road on Monday, January 18.

In an amateur video circulating on social media pages, the six suspects were seen walking away with an unspecified amount of money stashed in bags.

All through, one of the suspects had stood at the gate covering up for his counterparts who were conducting the heist at the bank.

In a statement, the investigative body indicated that it had since recovered two firearms that were lost in the bank robbery that left a security guard injured on the right arm.

“The firearms were dropped by a motorbike pillion passenger outside Kiambu Hospital’s gate, shortly before the motorbike disappeared into darkness,” reads an excerpt of the statement.

A cashier at the Mombasa road-based bank will be issuing more insights to the detectives on the Monday afternoon incident.

The robbery took place a year after police officers shot dead the suspected mastermind  of a Ksh.72 million Nairobi ATM heist.

Wycliff Vincent Oduor is said to have been among a three-man gang armed with pistols that had engaged police in a fierce shootout in Kayole.

Oduor had been released on a Ksh.500,000 bond following his arrest and subsequent arraignment over a 2019 incident where he is said to have led a team of criminals that stole Ksh.72 million from bank ATM in Nairobi.

The criminals had posed as police officers on escort, in September 2019, when they robbed G4S personnel of the said amount in Nairobi West.
