WOMAN CHASED CARRYING SH 1.3 MILLION

A gang of four members were on Friday, May 28, arrested after chasing a woman who had withdrew Ksh1.3 million from a bank in Nyahururu.

The gang is said to have parked their vehicle outside the bank and waited for the woman, only identified as Muthoni, to walk out of the premises before they started to trail her.

“I left one bank and went to the other. I noticed a vehicle that I had seen in the previous bank and got alarmed,”  Muthoni stated.

As they neared her home, the car tried to block Muthoni’s vehicle in one of the estates in the Nyahururu. However, they were not successful as she abruptly made a U-turn.

“I told my son to make a U-turn and drive back towards town. The suspicious vehicle tried to block us but my son was quick to turn and drive off, ” she stated.

It is at this point that the gang lost them, they made a detour to Laikipia University allowing Muthoni to make a phone call to the police.

The police were quick to respond as they successfully intercepted the car on its way to Nyahururu town.

Eyewitnesses narrated that police shot in the air and ordered the occupants to alight with their hands held over their heads.

Afterwards, the vehicle was taken to the Nyahururu police station and the suspects locked in the same station awaiting arraignment on Monday.

Nyahururu sub-county deputy police commander, Moffat Mang’era suspected that the gang could have had a hint that Muthoni was withdrawing huge sums of money.
