FIRST KENYAN TO TAKS SPUTINIK VACCINE EXPLAINS WHY IT WAS BANNED

Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi became the first Kenyan to take the now banned Sputinik Vaccine. Other key personalities who took the vaccine include Deputy President William Ruto, Senator Ledama Olekina and city lawyer Donald Kipkorir.

There was uproar about the vaccine leading to CS Mutahi Kagwe announcing that its importation and usage in Kenya was banned. Most of complains were about commercialization of the vaccine. Unlike AstraZeneca Vaccine which was being offered freely by the government, Sputinik was retailing at $100.

Ahmednasir now claims Sputinik Vaccine was banned because their was someone else who wanted to import alternative vaccine. According to the lawyer, Johnson & Johnson vaccine will land in Nairobi in July. The lawyer implies the decision was made to kill competition. The importation of Johnson & Johnson vaccine is likely to elicit huge debate in the country as it is seemingly being done by private sector just like Sputinik Vaccine.
