DP RUTO AND MAMA RACHAEL RUTO RECEIVE COVID-19 VACCINE

Deputy President William Ruto and his wife Rachel Ruto, have received the Covid-19 vaccine jab at their residence in Karen, Nairobi.

The DP encouraged Kenyans to participate in the exercise in order to prevent themselves from the pandemic.

“COVID-19 vaccines are our safe and effective tools in saving lives and managing the disease,” he said in a statement.

It was not made clear if the Deputy President received the AstraZeneca or the Sputinik Vaccine. Earlier city lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi became the first Kenyan to receive Sputinik Vaccine.

While AstraZeneca is offered freely by the Kenyan government, the Sputinik Vaccine from Russia comes at a cost of Sh11,000.

Last night during an interview with Citizen TV, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka said it’s insensitive for the government to introduce an expensive vaccine at a time when the country is facing economic hardships.
