ODM REFUSES TO ACCEPT ELECTION RESULTS

David Were of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has moved to challenge the verdict in the Matungu mini poll in which ANC’s Peter Nabulindo emerged the winner.

Were said some of the grounds on which his petition was based included election malpractice such as voter suppression.

ODM secretary-general Edwin Sifuna confirmed the petition stating that it was launched by the candidate himself.

“MP David Were has launched a petition against Mr. Nabulindo’s win. This is the candidate’s petition …some of the grounds are voter suppression and violence,” Sifuna said on Sunday.

The same was confirmed by the ANC party which saw it as a bad show given the ODM and ANC parties both belong to the NASA coalition.

“ODM have issued an intention to file a petition against ANC’s victory in Matungu despite belonging in the same coalition – NASA,” Ayub Savula, ANC deputy party leader.
