VIDEO OF VELVINE AND SUPECT MURIMI GETTING ALL TOUCHY EMERGE.


Detectives have seized CCTV footage which will be used as evidence in the brutal murder of a 24-year-old Nairobi waitress .

Sleuths drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said that the footage captured the deceased, Velvine Nungari Kinyanjui, booking a guest room with the prime suspect, Joseph Kinyua Murimi, on Tuesday, February 23.

The CCTV footage showed that the two spent the night together at Sinnot Hotel, after spending the night partying at Q West restaurant in Kahawa West, Nairobi.

Segments of the tape showed the two flirting and publicly displaying affection before checking into a room at3 around 9:00 pm.

A bar attendant at the hotel who was interrogated by police alleged that Murimi left the premises one and a half hours later, at 10:30 pm and drove home to be with his wife. The suspect reportedly told the attendant that he was married and couldn’t spend the night at the hotel.
He added that he left Velvine in the unlocked room to rest as she was exhausted and drunk. Murimi was alleged to have gone home with her mobile phone.

DCI officers said that they would use the footage as evidence in court, and asked the judge to allow them to unmask more details from the remaining segments of the CCTV footage.

Murimi was arrested on Friday, March 19 by police officers from the National Police Service and released on a Ksh 100,000 cash bail after being charged with rape.

A few hours later, DCI detectives rearrested him and were allowed to detain him for 10 days. Kiambu Law Court 1 Chief Magistrate Patriciah Gichohi, said that the allotted time would enable detectives to unravel the mystery behind Velvine’s murder.

The prime suspect, in his earlier statement recorded at a police station, said that he met the deceased at Ruiru’s Destiny Park where she worked and asked her out on a date.

On the night of the tragedy, the two had lunch before they proceed to enjoy dinner and alcoholic drinks later on.

Before passing away at the Kenyatta Teaching and Referral Hospital a few days later, Velvine had told the police that she didn’t remember anything after eating lunch with Murimi.
