WOMAN KIDNAPS HER OWN DAUGHTER.

Police have launched a manhunt for a mother who was accused of kidnapping her own daughter in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

The father complained that the estranged wife had abducted their daughter and denied him access to his own child.

Principal Magistrate Jacqueline Agonda had on January 7 directed the woman to avail herself and her daughter in court in the child custody hearing set for January 19.

The father’s lawyers argued that the woman was yet to present herself in court and had also disobeyed the magistrate’s direct orders. He wanted her to be charged with contempt of court.

He claimed that the woman used to manhandle him in front of their children, adding that he once incurred severe injuries.

In his statement, he asked the magistrate to direct his wife to be enrolled in a professional anger management program.

He further wanted the court to rule in his favour and allow him to take custody of the minor, whose age was not revealed.

“The plaintiff wants an injunction order issued, restraining the defendant from ever taking the child from his custody without his authorisation,” the lawyers requested.

Agonda ordered the police to arrest the mother after she failed to honour her summon.

“The police are hereby ordered to apprehend the suspect forthwith and bring her to court to show cause why serious action shouldn’t be taken against her,” Agonda ruled.
