MAN THREATENS TO KILL NYUMBA KUMI LEADERS.

A man accused of threatening to kill Nyumba Kumi elders while brandishing a pistol was charged in a Kibera court on Monday.

Joseph Kamau Ngatia was arraigned before senior principal magistrate Sharon Maroro where he denied the charges.

The charge sheet said Ngatia committed the offence on December 24 at Muslim area in Kawangware in Dagoreti within Nairobi county while armed with a pistol.

He was charged with threatening to kill several Nyumba Kumi elders by uttering the words, “Wapi hawa watu wa nyumba kumi tuwaue mmoja mmoja?” (Where are these Nyumba Kumi leaders we kill them one by one?) to James Ochieng Ouma, the chairman of Nyumba Kumi Muslims area in Kawangware.

The police report says the complainant, Ouma, had gone to attend to a matter at a bar in the area. While coming back he found his security guard nursing serious injuries that a group of robbers had inflicted on him.

He then in conjunction with others took him to the hospital where he was treated. While on the road back to his office from the hospital he heard the accused person uttering the words while showing off his pistol.

Ouma reported the matter to the police, which led to the arrest of the suspect.

Ngatia denied the charges and was released on Sh100,000 bond. The case will proceed on January 26 for mention .
