Groom dies a day after getting married

On Saturday, December 5, Roy Watuulo and Anita had one of the best days of their lives as they exchanged vows in Thornycroft Chapel, Uganda Christian University (UCU).

Even as they said ’till death do us part’, they did not even remotely imagine the grim reaper was 24 hours away from Roy to end their union.

According to a statement from UCU Facebook page, the groom died midnight Sunday, December 6, at Kapchworwa District leaving behind his inconsolable wife of one day.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Roy Watuulo, a son to Dr. Richard Watuulo, the Dean Faculty of Education and Arts. Roy died this morning at 12 a.m. from Kapchorwa District. He had just wedded Anita on Saturday 5th December 2020 from Thornycroft Chapel UCU. Roy and Anita are both UCU Alumni.

Please pray for God’s presence in the family during this time of grief.

The couple were both alumni of the university and the deceased man’s father, Richard Watuulo, is a dean in one of the departments.

The cause of his death was not, however, disclosed.

On social media, many people who attended their wedding ceremony were in disbelief as they tried to wrap their heads around the sad news.

“This is so heartbreaking, my sincere prayers and condolences to the newlywed wife and family. May the Good Lord strengthen them in this trying and difficult time,” Angella said.

“Tough tough. Gods strength and comfort to the family in this time of grief,” Veronica said.

“Sincere condolences to his family and friends. May the Lord comfort and strengthen the family especially the newly wed wife,” Were Andrew wrote.
