MAN DIES HOURS AFTER PREDICTING HIS DEATH ON FACEBOOK.

On Tuesday, March 30, at around 10 am, Tony Weru who hailed from Mweiga in Nyeri was rushed to hospital. He had developed breathing problems. He was then quickly transferred to the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital where he was put on oxygen.

On the evening of the same day, he took to the Digital Farmers Facebook group where he was a prominent member and contributor to talk about his health status. In the first of two posts, Tony Weru told the group members that he had contracted the coronavirus but couldn’t tell where or how he had contracted it.

“COVID-19 is real, if I die, I don’t know where I contracted it,” he posted. A few moments later, as his health condition deteriorated, Tony felt that death was imminent and decided to bid goodbye to his fellow group members. “I’m leaving you through COVID-19,” he said. He shared a photo of himself wearing a face mask with a seemingly sweaty face.

At around midnight, he was pronounced dead. “Tony Weru’s death was so sudden. He was taken ill at 10 am, rushed to hospital, and immediately put on oxygen, and transferred to Nyeri PGH. He had an opportunity to post on Facebook. By midnight he was no more! Fare thee well Tony. Mask up dear friends,” popular philanthropist Ndungu Nyoro posted.

His death came as cases of coronavirus in the country continued to rise.
