“YOU ARE EITHER PREGNANT OR NOT,” GIDEON MOI TELLS RUTO

Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has taken a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto for failing to declare his clear position on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

His attack on the DP came after he made a myriad of suggestions on the BBI and the referendum and steered clear from stating whether he was endorsing or opposing the handshake report.

Speaking in Embu during a signature collection drive on Thursday, December 3, the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party leader also called for an expedited process to have the referendum by June 2021.

“In this process of BBI, we cannot be in the middle. You cannot be a little pregnant, you are either pregnant or not. It is either Yes or No,” he said.

He also disagreed with Ruto’s multiple-choice referendum proposal in the referendum and maintained it will be a Yes or No question.

At the same time, ODM leader Raila Odinga declared the BBI signature collection exercise had finally come to a close and proudly stated the team had surpassed its target.

He said the week-long exercise managed to get four million signatures.

The Opposition leader said the next step was the verification of the signatures by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

This came a day after Ruto left critics scratching their heads after failing to state whether or not he supports the BBI. The DP who has been pushing for a consensus process to avoid a contested referendum insisted there were still some contentious issues that ought to be addressed.

His camp also vouched for a Bill that would give Kenyans options to vote on each specific item proposed in the report rather than having it presented in a blanket form.
