Atwoli insults Ruto. Again.

Atwoli is arguably the most vulgar national leader in Kenya. The COTU boss is never afraid to show his emotions in words and actions. For many years many people have been referring to him affectionately or otherwise as ‘mshenzi’. This comes from his all time favorite insult.

In life everyone has a special day. For some it’s during their birthday while others it might be during holidays. Many Christians spend 364 days waiting for Christmas. It’s day of merry and spending with abandon. It’s a day many choose to make their worst decisions. The irony that the decisions are made during Christ’s birthday is glaring. For Atwoli, 1st May of every year is his favorite day. A day he craves for every waking day.

1st May being International Labour Day makes all mics be pointed at COTU boss Francis Atwoli. On that day all cameras zoom on the handsome voice of Atwoli as the mics capture the timbres of his Western Kenya voice. It’s on that day that Atwoli talks with abandon. From hilarious prayers to calling people ‘washenzi’.

The handshake has changed that routine. Nowadays Atwoli is on camera every other day. DP Ruto has been the biggest casualty of the spotlight shedded to Atwoli. In every press conference it seems Atwoli castigates Ruto or one of his associates.

Ruto for the past few months has been riding on the hustler slogan. He is using his humble beginnings to appeal to Kenyan voters. If the crowds being witnessed in his rallies is anything to go by, DP Ruto is scoring big. Atwoli swore that Ruto will never be the president of this country and in a routine attack to the DP, he has dismantled the hustler philosophy.

Reading from a smartphone, Atwoli said that an hustler is a person who employs fraudulent or unscrupulous methods to obtain money; a swindler. He also said that an hustler is a male prostitute.

It’s not clear if DP Ruto was answering back to Atwoli but in a series of tweets last night he explained the hustler philosophy.

“The lords of tribalism and poverty who are masters/beneficiaries of political violence are very mad at the unbowed HUSTLER Movement. Why? The HUSTLERS have refused the tribe configuration and INSTEAD they want a conversation on their individual HUSTLES which are tribeless,” Ruto tweeted.

“Tribe has been hijacked by tribal lords/chiefs to benefit themselves and their families to the detriment of Hustlers and their children. And ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. The HUSTLERS, as a minimum, want a NEW conversation. Not about anyone’s tribe BUT about the HUSTLES of each one of us,” he added.

Ruto also denied claims that an hustler is a thief by adding, “Wacheni madharau and insults. These HUSTLERS are not thieves, they are not stupid, they are not lazy. They deserve opportunity, support, encouragement and inspiration, which they lack.”
