A LIST OF RUTO’S ALLIES THAT HAVE BEEN SACKED BY PRESIDENT UHURU

Rashid Echesa

Rashid Echesa remains one of the mysterious appointments by Jubilee government. It is purportedly he was given the Cabinet Secretary for Sports with only a class eight certificate. After his appointment, scandals raged on his ministry and due to public pressure especially from Raila and his loyals, President Uhuru Kenyatta sacked the loyal ally to Deputy Ruto. He would be followed by a multi billion shillings arms scandal long after he had vacated the office.

Henry Rotich

The sacking of Henry Rotich was the end of the beginning for the rift between the President and his Deputy. Rotich who was the CS Treasury was replaced by Ukur Yatani who would go on two hold two cabinet positions. Many political analysts speculated it’s Raila who had put pressure on Uhuru Kenyatta to sack Rotich from one of the powerful ministries in the Jubilee government.

Mwangi Kiunjuri

Barack Obama will be remembered by his ‘Yes we can’ speech. Martin Luther has been immortalized by the ‘I have a dream’ speech. Former president Moi will always be remembered by ‘Fuata Nyayo’ slogan.
Every successful or not successful politician always leaves a mark on what to be remembered with. And the former CS for Agriculture Mwangi Kiunjuri will always be remembered by “If you see any insect that you suspect could be a locust, take a picture and post on social media so we can confirm for you what insect it really is.”
He was trolled to no end by Kenyans on social media because of that statement and President Kenyatta put him out of the misery by firing him. It was a dent to DP William Ruto because he was one of his point men in Mt Kenya. In a pompous post firing interview he said that he will come back stronger than before but to be brutally honest he signed out on a whimper.

Governor Ferdinand Waititu

The former governor for Kiambu was embroiled in tens of scandals like any other governor in this corrupt Kenya. What set him apart was that he went down in history as being the first governor to be impeached by the Senate.
It was the first time Ruto’s numbers where tested in the house and he awfully fell short. He could not save his man. Out of 40 votes, Murkomen could only lead his team in getting a timid 11 votes.
In a show of might, Ruto fell spectacularly during his first sparring with his boss. The pounding he got during the Waititu impeachment would embolden the President and subsequently lead to the largest political purge of his administration.

She was one of the most vocal Tanga Tanga loyalists. Her support for Ruto was and maybe is still unquestionable. Being the Senate Chief Whip, the president did not take kindly that she was not loyal to his vision.
After removal, together with Murkomen they led a half hearted effort to go to court to have the changes dismissed. It was ironical if not comical to see them go to court to seek justice when they have ridiculed ODM in the past for doing so.

Senator Kipchumba Murkomen

Perhaps the biggest loss to Ruto came from removal of Senator Kipchumba Murkomen from the Majority Leader of the Senate post. He was his number two in Rift Valley and as an outspoken lawyer, he was always ready to defend his boss against any attacks from the opposition.
The lack of foresight might be the greatest weakness for man. A few days earlier he had told the Narok Senator not to worry about ODM fussing about his appointment as the CPAIC chair and assured him of his support. On his Twitter account, the former Majority Leader posted “Congrats to my friends @ledamalekina & @KWamatangi on your election as chair & vice-chair of Senate’s County Public Accounts Committee. You have my support & the support of your colleagues in ensuring that we hold our counties [to account].”
A few days later he was sacked. For the next few days he would transverse all media houses. A wounded man and in the midst of tears he would remind us he comes from a poor background and has worked hard to reach the top. Where have we heard that story before? Up
