Crew of same plane warned by air traffic control in resurfaced audio months before Florida crash
Months before the deadly Learjet 60 crash in Florida, crew members onboard the same plane had a hauntingly similar exchange with air traffic control.
Audio of an intense conversation that took place during a flight in May has now resurfaced following the tragic incident that occurred in Palm Beach County on Sunday (1 November).
Reports claim that those in the cockpit were reprimanded by the aviation team on the ground a few months ago after understating the tumultuous conditions they were experiencing and making unapproved altitude adjustments.
Audio obtained by investigators who are currently probing Sunday's plane crash has so far proved pivotal in piecing together what might have gone wrong in the skies.
Nine people were killed when the Learjet 60 suddenly hurtled nose-first into a residential area before exploding into a fireball upon impact – leaving a 'crater-like' hole in the street.
Tributes have been pouring in for the passengers and crew travelling on the plane – including tech tycoon Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, and their two young children Emma, four, and Charlie, two.
The children's nanny Anita Maria Cetina and another couple, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, were also onboard the private plane when it smashed into the ground.
Pilot Jeff Gregory, 55, was at the helm of the aircraft alongside his 20-year-old co-pilot, Nathalia Filgueiras, who got her pilot license while she was still in high school.
Florida has been left reeling from the tragic events that unfolded over the weekend, which Governor Ron DeSantis described as 'cataclysmic'.
He appeared to reference shocking dashcam footage that captured the moment the Learjet slammed into the earth and burst into flames, saying: "It looked like a missile going down."
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have launched an investigation into the crash.
As Americans search for answers and aviation experts continue to share their theories, people have also been looking into previous flights that the Learjet 60 has taken.
The same aircraft that was obliterated on Sunday – sporting the FAA registration N722BD – was also the subject of a charged exchange with air traffic control several months ago.
The identities of the crew members heard during this audio have not been confirmed and there is no suggestion that the female heard talking is Filgueiras.
An air traffic controller contacted those flying the Learjet to confirm why they 'were climbing' in altitude as the plane passed over Newark in New Jersey, according to the Daily Mail.
A woman in the cockpit then responded saying: "We are just about to call you, we are experiencing moderate [turbulence] and unable to hold altitude."
The operator then quickly corrected the pilot and said sternly: "That is not moderate, descend to 4,000 [feet] immediately. If you cant maintain altitude that is not moderate, that is severe turbulence.
"Are you experiencing severe turbulence?"
A man and a woman were then both heard telling the air traffic controller, 'Affirmative sir', before they clarified that there were 'no injuries' onboard.
The identities of those heard in the audio currently remain a mystery.
On Sunday, the Learjet was supposed to be heading to the Bahamas after departing from Austin, Texas – but tragically, it never made it to the intended destination.
Former NFL star Joe Mixon has now told how he flew on the Learjet 60 involved in the crash just 'last month', with 'those same two pilots'.
He described Gregory and Filgueiras as 'incredible professionals and genuinely wonderful people', adding: "Hearing the young woman's story and learning about the bright future she had ahead of her makes it even more heartbreaking that her life was cut so short."
The 30-year-old sports star said his 'heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to the grieving families and loved ones of everyone on board'.

“Usije Ukasema Sorry”- Mejja Cautions Artists Over Career Risks Of Political Endorsements Ahead of 2027
Veteran Genge artist Mejja has cautioned fellow musicians against abandoning their personal convictions for financial gain when creating political campaign music, urging artists to weigh long-term career risks before accepting political deals.
Speaking during an interview with radio presenter Kwambox on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the musician addressed the mounting pressure artists face when approached by politicians. When Kwambox presented a hypothetical offer of Ksh 2 million to promote a political message that clashes with an artist’s core beliefs, Mejja questioned the wisdom of taking such money.
“Huwezi kuwa anakuambia nikuambie uende against what you believe alafu ati akupatie 2 million,” Mejja said, emphasizing that personal principles should take precedence over attractive paydays.
Mejja highlighted the severe reputational damage political endorsements can inflict on an artist’s brand, advising musicians to either take full accountability for their choices or turn down the cash entirely.
“Unasema mimi niko na principles zangu, si ndio? Siezi chukua doh,” he stated. “Lakini nasema tu hivi, unaonanga wale hawachukua doh? Naweza sema, chukua pack ya, ikiaribu career yako you will be okay. Usije uimbe alafu tena nikuje nipige tena interviews zingine za kusema sorry.”
His remarks underscore the lasting public backlash artists face when fans feel betrayed by campaign songs, warning musicians against making public apologies later for political alignments they willingly chose.
The discussion comes at a time when political messaging increasingly relies on popular music to mobilize voters, particularly youth demographics. While campaign tracks offer substantial financial payouts and elevated exposure for artists, they also carry the risk of swift public criticism depending on the candidate or platform endorsed.
As political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 General Election, musicians will face increased scrutiny over their creative choices and political associations. Mejja’s comments bring the balance between artistic integrity and commercial opportunity to the forefront of the entertainment industry.

Charlene Ruto hosts lavish bridal shower ahead of white wedding
President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, has celebrated her upcoming white wedding to her Tanzanian fiancé, Isaya Yunge, with an elaborate bridal shower attended by close friends and family.
Charlene offered a glimpse into the private celebration through photographs shared on Tuesday, November 3, capturing the decorations, outfits and memorable moments from the gathering.
The event was themed around white and purple, with the president’s daughter dressed in an elegant white gown as her guests embraced pink outfits. Among those who attended was her sister, Stephanie, who joined other women in celebrating the occasion.
Guests were welcomed by a banner bearing the inscription “Welcome to Charlene Bridal Shower”, setting the tone for the celebration.
The venue featured carefully arranged seating, complemented by decorative lighting that illuminated the space as the festivities extended into the evening.
A specially decorated cake was another highlight of the occasion. It carried messages including “Miss Babe to Mrs Babe” and “Hey Mrs Yunge”, symbolising Charlene’s anticipated transition into marriage and her new family identity.
Beyond the elaborate decorations, Charlene used the occasion to acknowledge the women who have walked alongside her through different stages of her life.
In a heartfelt message accompanying the photographs, she expressed appreciation for their friendship, love and support as she prepares to begin married life.
“Grateful that the amazing women I have done life with over the years chose to celebrate me in my new season,” she wrote.
She also reflected on the importance of faith as she prepares for the next chapter, describing Christ as the foundation upon which she intends to build her marriage.
“Christ as our solid foundation and rock, the Word to guide my next step, the laughter and joy of sisterhood and knowing I have their love and support as I start to do life with the one He kept for me,” she added.
Charlene concluded her message by thanking the women she affectionately referred to as her “dadas” and girls for making the occasion special.
The celebration comes nearly three months after Charlene and Yunge held their traditional Koito ceremony on August 8, 2026, at Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.
The traditional engagement brought together relatives, friends and prominent guests, including political dignitaries from Kenya and Tanzania.
Koito is a traditional Kalenjin ceremony through which a man formally approaches his prospective bride’s family to establish a marriage arrangement.
It also provides an opportunity for the two families to discuss bridewealth and other customary obligations.
