Sonko Leaks Audio Revealing His Fallout With Conjestina

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has vehemently denied allegations of abandoning boxing icon Conjestina Achieng, countering reports of her deteriorating health.

Sonko took to social media to share phone call recordings with Conjestina’s family, revealing that a misunderstanding led to her departure from his team.

Sonko explained that Conjestina became upset when he couldn’t secure her a plane ticket from Mombasa to Nairobi due to fully booked flights.

Consequently, she traveled by bus, while Sonko, securing a last-minute ticket, flew. His aides joined him on the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), the only available transport.

Reports suggested Conjestina expressed dissatisfaction when Sonko’s team fetched her from the bus stop, insisting on returning home to Siaya.

Her family, particularly her son Charlton, reportedly urged Sonko to let her go back home, where her health further declined.

Sonko defended himself, citing a court obligation that required his presence and emphasizing Conjestina’s disappointment over the unsecured plane ticket. He accused the family of undermining his efforts to support her rehabilitation.

Despite the fallout, Sonko acknowledged his compassion for the less fortunate and hinted at a possible reconciliation with Conjestina’s family, expressing willingness to offer further assistance.

Responding to concerns about Conjestina’s well-being, veteran sports journalist Carol Radull visited her in Siaya, where she had been residing for nearly two months.

Radull described Conjestina’s challenging situation and highlighted the collective struggle to find a long-term solution.

Notably, after undergoing rehabilitation in Mombasa, Sonko extended a job offer to Conjestina, making her one of his close aides. However, recent photos of Conjestina sparked public worries, prompting Sonko to clarify the circumstances surrounding their fallout.
