Tears as Govt Does this to Nyambaria School

After the release of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, joyous celebrations were overshadowed by disappointment for 18 students at Nyambaria High School in Nyamira.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) withheld their results due to alleged malpractices, as reported by The Standard on Tuesday.

Senior education officials have confirmed the decision to withhold the results, citing the need for a thorough review before conveying the outcomes to the affected students.

The deputy principal explained the challenges faced in tabulating results for a substantial number of candidates and assured that official results would be issued promptly.

“We had a big number of candidates, and it had become very tedious for us to tabulate all the results. We shall issue an official statement tomorrow,” stated the deputy principal.

Nyambaria High School, which had previously secured the top spot nationwide in 2022, now finds itself under scrutiny for the second time.

This achievement has sparked speculations and raised questions about the school’s capabilities, with many Kenyans expressing doubts.

Meanwhile, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has ordered a probe following the alarming revelation that over 48,000 students scored a mean grade of E in the KCSE exams.

Machogu emphasized the importance of the investigation in rectifying the outcomes and ensuring the integrity of the examination process.

In light of these developments, concerns have been raised about Nyambaria High School’s involvement in exam malpractices, particularly considering the expulsion of the station manager during the exam period.

The circumstances surrounding this expulsion add fuel to the speculation about the school’s adherence to examination guidelines.

The situation prompts reflection on the broader issue of academic integrity and the measures in place to safeguard the examination process. As stakeholders await the results of the investigations and the subsequent actions, the reputation of Nyambaria High School hangs in the balance.
