A post-mortem conducted on the body of an eight-year-old Kitengela girl has revealed he died from suffocation.

Government chief pathologist Johansen Oduor while releasing the autopsy reports, said Shantel Nzembi died from suffocation.

Oduor who conducted the postmortem at Shalom Community Hospital on Friday, June 4, further explained the little girl’s nose and mouth were blocked hence her inability to breathe.

More samples from the Grade Two pupil were taken for further analysis to establish whether or not her alleged killers may have defiled her as was claimed in earlier reports.

Nzembi went missing on Saturday, May 29, after she left home to play with her friends in the neighborhood.

Her distraught mother Christine Ngina recalled receiving a phone call from a woman who demanded ransom so that she could free Nzembi.

“I received so many calls. They called me first on Saturday, and they kept asking if I had managed to get the money. They could not wait any longer, just a day only,” she recounted.

So far, police have arrested three suspects including Nativity Mutindi, 30, who was flushed from a hideout in Athi River on Friday, June 4.

Her arrest, came days after Kajiado Law Courts directed two other suspects, Livingstone Makacha Otengo and Francis Mbuthia Mikuhu, to be detained for 10 days to allow detectives to conclude the investigations.

Elsewhere, A police officer based at the Pangani Police Station in Nairobi County died in a road accident while pursuing armed criminals, leaving behind his expectant wife.

The 29-year-old officer identified as Bro Adow died on the evening of Thursday, June 3 and was laid to rest on Friday, June 3, at the Lang’ata Muslim cemetery in line with the Islamic burial rites.

His friend and colleague Vanpagal Mohamed Ahmed described the late as a hardworking police officer who put his life in line while serving Kenyans.

Mohamed said that the deceased was riding in a Toyota Probox car while pursuing the armed criminals on a motorcycle before their vehicle lost control and hit a perimeter wall killing him on the spot.

He said that the two other colleagues sustained minor injuries and are recuperating well in the hospital.
