Uhuru Blamed After Ruto Delivered Surprising Order

A gazette notice released on September 19th has captured the attention of mainstream media and become a hot topic on social media platforms.

The subject of the gazette revolves around the revision of toll fees for the Expressway, where the toll for a regular vehicle traveling from Mlolongo to Westlands has surged from Ksh. 340 to Ksh. 500.

The decision, as explained by Infrastructure Ministry Cabinet Secretary Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen on Twitter, stems from the contractor’s proposal to the Kenya Kwanza Administration.

The government, facing financial obligations, justifies the toll increase as a necessary step to meet its outstanding payments to the contractor.

However, not everyone is in agreement with this move. Alego Usonga Member of Parliament, Hon Sam Atandi, expressed strong disapproval on his Twitter account, condemning the Kenya Kwanza government for what he deems an “evil” decision.

Atandi argues that the toll hike unfairly disadvantages Kenyans who are already grappling with the challenges of a high cost of living.

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot swiftly entered the discourse, pointing fingers at the immediate former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Cheruiyot alleges that Kenyatta holds shares in the Expressway and suggests that he should consider contributing the property for free public use.

The accusations against Uhuru Kenyatta have been a recurring theme, with Kenya Kwanza leaders asserting that he personally benefits from the road.

The situation has sparked heated exchanges on social media, with Cheruiyot’s response echoing the sentiments of those critical of the toll increase.
