Uhuru’s New Move Shocks Azimio

Meetings between ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta and envoys from the US and the UK have stirred discomfort among Azimio circles, with accusations from Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma claiming that Uhuru is engaging with leaders linked to President William Ruto, particularly highlighted by his recent meeting with British High Commissioner Neil Wigan on Friday.

Later in the day, Uhuru held another high-powered meeting with the US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman at his Nairobi Office.

Why is former President Uhuru Kenyatta engaging with those who allegedly manipulated our 2022 presidential elections?” questioned Kaluma.

He urged Uhuru to steer clear of US Ambassador Meg Whitman and her Western associates.

In a press statement, Uhuru Kenyatta clarified that the two leaders had merely paid him a courtesy call.

The ex-President kept the specifics of the two meetings confidential.

High Commissioner Wigan suggested that the discussion primarily focused on regional peace within the East African Community (EAC).

“Wonderful meeting with Uhuru Kenyatta, EAC facilitator, to address regional peace and security matters,” Wigan expressed.

Additionally, the High Commissioner indicated that the United Kingdom would investigate avenues to assist the EAC mission.

Despite accusations from a section of Azimio politicians that Uhuru is cosying to Ruto’s administration, the former President has insisted that he supports Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

“I am a member of Azimio that is what I tell people. I am not a conman,” Uhuru remarked on November 19.
