Raila Endorses His Preferred Candidate For Nairobi Governor

ODM Leader Raila Odinga has finally revealed his preferred Azimio ally to endorse for Nairobi gubernatorial seat ahead of 2027 poll.

The Opposition chief announced that he will support MP Timothy Wanyonyi as Governor Johnson Sakaja’s replacement at City Hall during the next election cycle.

Sakaja, who secured his victory over his formidable rival Polycarp Igathe (Jubilee) during the hard-fought 2022 polls, is now poised to pass the torch to a worthy successor, handpicked by the influential Opposition chief himself.Mr Odinga informed that MP Wanyonyi was best leader to lead the Capital City in the future.

During the 2022 poll, Wanyonyi had inspired to vie for the governor seat but was asked to shelve his ambitions to avoid split of Azimio votes.

Meanwhile, another crucial development unfolded during the Azimio meeting, leaving political observers astounded. The Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance Bipartisan committee, which had been diligently working to find a solution, was abruptly suspended.

The contentious decision stemmed from the government’s refusal to open the IEBC servers, among other pressing concerns.

In a bold display of power, Odinga issued a stern warning to President Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza administration, giving them a deadline until the following Monday to heed the voices of Kenyans on the Bill or face the wrath of a united and determined opposition.
