Kioni Spills the Beans on What Has Happened in UDA

Jubilee’s party secretary general, Jeremiah Kioni, stands as one of the prominent leaders from the Mount Kenya region who have been vocal in their criticism of President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government.

However, recent developments, as reported in Tuesday’s edition of People Daily, reveal an intriguing twist in the political landscape.

Kioni has asserted that people are indeed leaving Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, yet they are not flocking to Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja, which is a part of the One Kenya Coalition.

He draws a biblical parallel, likening these individuals to the Israelites in need of guidance. Kioni, a close associate of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, emphasizes that Kamwene was conceived to provide solace to those who have lost faith in the government.

In his words, “Clearly, people have departed from UDA, but they are not gravitating towards Azimio la Umoja.

They are akin to the Israelites, and we cannot allow them to wander for 40 years. We must swiftly offer them direction, and Kamwene is one of the avenues you’ll be hearing about. If it’s not meant for anyone in particular, it’s meant for everyone.”

This statement from Kioni aligns with reports indicating that fault lines are emerging within Azimio la Umoja, which may explain why he and the leader of the Narc Kenya party, Martha Karua, have taken the initiative to establish the Kamwene forum.

Notably, Martha Karua is committed to advocating for the rights and interests of the Mount Kenya region through this newly formed forum.

The forum comprises prominent figures such as former Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria, Ndiritu Muriithi, and former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya.

Their mission is to provide a platform for the expression of the region’s concerns and to chart a course forward in the ever-evolving Kenyan political landscape.
