CS Soipan Tuya Demands 500k Per Month From Husband After Suing Him

Soipan Tuya, the Environment Cabinet Secretary, has brought a legal case against her husband, Stephen Saibulu, alleging physical and emotional abuse. In her pursuit of justice, she has appealed to the court to grant her custody of their two children.

Court documents, as revealed by Kenyans.co.ke, confirm that the CS, represented by the law firm Daniel Ondabu and Company Advocates, is filing for a protection order not only for herself but also for her children and domestic workers, aiming to shield them from any harm inflicted by her spouse.

In addition to seeking legal protection, Soipan Tuya is requesting custody of her two children and financial support amounting to Ksh425,000 to ensure their well-being and upbringing.

This legal action underscores the importance of addressing domestic abuse and safeguarding the welfare of all involved parties, especially children, in such distressing situations.

“The Respondent relentlessly treats the Plaintiff/Applicant, their children, and the applicant’s domestic workers with cruelty and has been psychologically, emotionally, and verbally abusive,” she lamented.

“Owing to the abusive and erratic nature of the Respondent, the Plaintiff/Applicant, their children, and the applicant’s domestic workers have been living in mortal fear for their lives.”

Tuya is seeking Ksh225,000, which is half the amount of the school fees needed for the two children.

She is also asking for Ksh100,000, for the children’s monthly entertainment. The CS wants a further Ksh100,000 to cater for the expense of maintaining the children.

Tuya has also asked the court to give a restraining order against Saibulu.

“That the Court be pleased to issue a permanent injunction directed to and restraining the Defendant herein either by himself, his servants or agents from abusing the plaintiff and their children physically, emotionally, verbally or insulting, ridiculing and issuing threats of whatever nature by any means to the plaintiff and their children…” read part of the court documents.

According to the CS, the relationship with her husband has been frustrating because of his continuous refusal to take responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of the children as well as various incidences of violence, abuse, and infidelity.

She said that she has been left as the sole breadwinner, providing all of the children’s basic needs including food, shelter, education, and clothing.

Tuya accused Saibulu of failing to fulfill his obligations since they split in October 2020.
