Nyanza Politician Arrested Over Wash-wash Links

A hopeful Nyanza politician faces a weekend in police custody following his arrest at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

In a report that has been shared by a reliable source of information, it has been reported that the suspect, Jonathan Okoth Opande who unsuccessfully contested the Nyakach Constituency Parliamentary seat on an independent ticket in the 2022 General Elections allegedly swindled two Thai nationals more than Ksh.100 million in a fake gold scam.

Detectives from the directorate of criminal investigations who conducted this operation allegedly recovered fake gold bars and pellets in addition to a makeshift smelting machine in his office in the Lavington area.

According to the reports given by Citizen TV Kenya, Detectives from the directorate of criminal investigations raided a house converted into a lavish office belonging to Opande who followed through as the sleuths broke one door after another in his bungalow.

A police report has confirmed that An array of documentation was also recovered and is yet to be authenticated.

According to detectives, the scammers used labelled dust coats branded Ministry of Mining and a backyard which is detached from the main house where the high-level victims are never brought was a structure allegedly used as the smelting hub.

While reacting to this incident, Kenyans who took to their different social media platforms to express their opinion on this topic have congratulated the directorate of criminal for arresting these suspects.

According to the reports given by most Kenyans, they claimed that it is so unfortunate that the renowned Aspiring Politician decided to get into this kind of business even though he knew that the laws of the country are against it.
