Current Situation at State House Road as Azimio Vigil Begin

As the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition marks Vigil Wednesday across the country, State House Road is experiencing a heavy police presence and remains as busy as usual, this is according to Citizen TV reporter Seth Olale.

The Azimio leaders, led by Raila Odinga, had initially planned protests for this day but decided to call them off.

Instead, they are holding solidarity parades and vigils in various locations throughout Kenya to honor the victims of police brutality and to demand justice for those who lost their lives during the anti-government protests that started in March

The decision to suspend the protests and shift to vigils came amid pressure from the international community for the coalition to give dialogue a chance and avoid further violence and unrest.

Azimio la Umoja has urged Kenyans to join them in these peaceful vigils, where they are lighting candles and laying flowers, particularly white ones, as symbols of remembrance and respect for the victims.

In Homa Bay County, Gladys Wanga, the county boss, led county officials and residents in lighting candles to observe Vigil Wednesday.

Governor Gladys Wanga also tweeted about the vigil, stating that no Kenyan should lose their life for exercising their constitutional right to protest peacefully and unarmed.

The Azimio la Umoja coalition is using this opportunity to not only remember the victims but also to call for accountability and justice.
