Uhuru Finally Breaks Silence on Why He Doesn’t Talk to Ruto

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta now says he is yet to hold any talks with his successor William Ruto since the opportunity has not been presented to him yet.

Uhuru spoke in an address to the press on Friday outside his son Jomo’s Karen home where individuals claiming to be police officers had earlier attempted to raidin search of firearms.

He stated that, despite the consistent public attacks atop vehicles at government functions, President Ruto has still not shown any sign that he wants to engage him in a direct private conversation.

Uhuru stated: “You have a tête-à-tête with somebody who wants to have a tête-à-tête with you. He has not shown any indication that he wants to talk to me. As a retired person, why should I look for somebody who doesn’t want to talk to me?”

Following the alleged raid at his son’s home, among other recent events such as the withdrawal of government security attached to his mother Mama Ngina, however, the retired Head of State went on to say he that he feels his family’s safety is being threatened.

While daring the government to face him him head-on as an individual, Uhuru stated – matter of factly – that he will not tire of protecting and defending his family in order to ensure that they’re safe and protected.

“The safety of my family has been threatened, and that’s why I’m here. I have been quiet, but being quiet does not mean I will not defend my family,” he said.

“I will defend my family to the end. I defended Kenya, and I did my best for this country and handed over when my time was finished. And I will now do the best that I can do to defend my family.”
