Moses Kuria Announces New Evictions of Squatters

Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria announced that the government would be embarking on an exercise to evict squatters in Machakos County.

Addressing the violent demonstrations that were witnessed in Mlolongo and Kitengela yesterday, Moses Kuria noted they were sparked by evicted squatters.

The squatters had their houses demolished on June 2023, from East Africa Portland where they had encroached on the government’s land.

“The violence in Mlolongo yesterday was because we evicted squatters from East Africa Portland land led by Mavoko MP Patrick Makau. Today we will evict all illegal squatters. You can burn all you want but sibanduki,” Moses Kuria stated.

Patrick Makau was arrested at 4:00 AM at his Karen Home by the dreaded ATPU squad from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) as he was accused of ferrying goons to cause the destruction of property in Kitengela and Mlolongo.

Edwin Sifuna while appearing on Citizen TV strongly condemned the arrest terming it political.
