10 FOOD ITEMS SET TO REDUCES IN PRICE FROM THIS MONTH

According to a report by – Agricultutral Sector Survey 10 food items are expected to drop owing to a number of factors including the ongoing rainfall and President William Ruto’s government directive on the importation of key farm produce such as maise
They include;
Maize
Wheat Flour
Kales
Traditional vegetables
Cabbage
Spinach
Tomatoes
Potatoes
Carrots
Milk

The expected moderation of maize and wheat prices is on account of the long rains, the expected duty-free importation
of key food items and the decline in international food prices. Farmers expect the price of rice to remain elevated given the reduction in its acreage.

The price of animal products particularly milk could decline as more pasture becomes available thus cutting down on the purchase of animal feeds.

The price of vegetable items is expected to reduce further in June following increased supply of the fast-maturing crops from the long rains season. However, egg prices may go up since poultry rely heavily on processed feeds. The price of sugar remains elevated and could rise further owing to reduced cane deliveries and high importation cost.
