WHAT PRESIDENT RUTO PRAYED FOR IN ISRAEL

On Tuesday, May 9, President William Ruto embarked on his first visit to Jerusalem, Israel, where he paid a visit to the Wailing Wall. He was warmly received by Mordechai Eliav, the director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, who shared the wall’s rich and captivating history with him.

During his visit, Ruto offered a heartfelt prayer at the wall, expressing his desire for unity, peace, and harmony among all people. He emphasized the importance of eradicating isolation and prejudice, particularly against the Jewish nation, referring to the tragic events of the Holocaust. Ruto acknowledged the immense suffering endured by over six million Jews who perished under Adolf Hitler’s rule in Germany and across Europe.

“We should never face the isolation and prejudice against our brothers and sisters of the Jewish nation.

“That we shall be united as a people in peace as one people under God,” Ruto prayed, wishing the Israelites peace and tranquillity.

As part of the customs observed by many visitors, Ruto offered a prayer at the Wall and placed a written note of prayer in one of its cracks.

The profound impact of this prejudice ultimately led to the formation of the modern State of Israel, which gained independence on May 14, 1948.

Ruto expressed his admiration for Israel, describing it as a remarkable place. He expressed his joy at being in the Holy Land, even amidst the challenges faced worldwide. His sentiments were shared with the audience accompanying him during his visit.

Earlier in the day, Ruto engaged in productive discussions with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Netanyahu’s office in Jerusalem. The discussions resulted in the signing of several agreements and deals. Accompanying President Ruto were his wife and First Lady, Rachel Ruto, and the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Alfred Mutua.
