Following the revelation that no coastal leader was named to the Shakahola committee of investigation, Kilifi citizens promised President Ruto a massive rally.

According to one of Raila’s ardent supporters, they deplore that President Ruto created a panel of inquiry into the Shakahola massacre but no one has been nominated who is from the area, which they have strongly opposed, asserting that the team should not dare attempt to set foot in Kilifi.

They have threatened a sizable demonstration to protest being left out of the commission because they believed the incident occurred in Kilifi and they wanted to be included as a result.

“Maafa yamefanyika Kilifi halafu wewe Rais unaunda tume huko Nairobi ya kuchunguza uchafu huku Kilifi na hakuna mpwani na mkiligi hata mmoja, hao watu ulichagua hawafiki hapa watabaki Nairobi, hakuna mahali watafika siku watafika tutaandamana na tutapambana na wao vibaya sana,” one of the residents said.

In addition, the people of Kilifi have sworn to support Raila Odinga because they believe President Ruto has broken his commitments.
