BAD NEWS TO CIVIL SERVANTS AS GOVT MAKES ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT SALARIES

The Salaries and Remunerations Commission has announced that the sitting allowance, non-practice Allowance and Retreat Allowance are some of those that will be scrapped.

President Ruto has embarked on efforts to ensure that government resources are not wasted through per diem and unnecessary Imprests.

Lyn Mengich has however faced resistance from the Public Service Commission who argue that civil servants should be treated in a decent manner. The president position has always been that salaries of all government officers must be harmonized to stop wastages.

President Ruto has remained candid and clear of his agenda for the country especially to ensure that what adds value to the country takes priority. The president has remained clear that the country must be firm and objective in matters allowances which are excessive.

Ruto’s latest moves is obviously a huge blow to Civil Servants who are seeking to ensure that they are protected by government from the high cost of living. Whether Ruto’s latest moves will be accepted by government workers, let’s wait and see.
