CHINA MAKES MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT ON KENYA’S DEBT

Weeks after an international media accused China of exploiting African countries particularly Kenya and West African countries, the country’s foreign ministry spokesperson Want Wenbin has responded to the allegations.

As relayed by Kenyans.co.ke, Wenbin clarified that China isn’t setting a debt trap for kenya among other African countries but is instead lifting them out of financial constraints.

” China is not the source of debt trap for African countries, but a partner lifting them out of a poverty trap,” Wang stated.

He refuted claims that China is isn’t a supportive nation calling on African countries to continue engaging with the country for their benefits despite allegations that Kenya is owed ksh 1.2 trillion by China.

Besides that, China is allegedly owing African countries a huge sum of money amounting to ksh 8 trillion.

This comes when the kenya’s government is experiencing difficulties when it comes to settling loans as well as paying civil servants their salaries, a move that has led to discomfort in the country.

However speaking today, president William Ruto affirmed the public that he won’t be making any borrowings from foreign countries to meet salary demands.

He lauded civil servants for their contributions towards having a stabilised economy after being ranked at a higher position by world Bank in the latest stabilised economics in Africa.
